Questions, banter and general discussion.
Look assessing ranking only from finishers is one issue, but damn can you at least show those who have started races and quit in the result. Maybe it will encourage them to not quit after being dropped. Annoying that some higher ranked riders keep pulling the plug to protect ranking.
I agree with this.

Anyone completing first km should be included in final result and their points should be available to the ranking calculation.

Also by showing DNF then repeat offenders will be easier to spot and potentially penalise.

Far to many server issues where riders complete rides with or without incident yet Zwift doesn't report them as having finished.

I don't believe for one second that riders drop out to deprive others of scoring more points.
I don't understand how a bad result can negatively affect rankings. The way I understand it the ranking is based on an average of 5 best results over the period. The only possible way I can see is if they have less than 5 results in 30 days and better results over 90 days, so dropping out avoids having the recalc over 30 days but I imagine that this is a very small minority of the cases you're referring to.

Dropping out to avoid a bad result isn't manipulating rankings, it's just a bunch of guys with sensitive ego's that only want to race if they can win.

Am I missing something?
My last 2 events I’ve deliberately set off at my normal pace rather than join in the Zwift dash, and then really enjoyed the rides, although suffering in the results! My points have stayed the same so you’re right.

Surely people don’t quit because they miss the bunch? That would be pathetic.

Rankings are based over 3 months.

If a particularly strong rider with a high ranking is having a bad day and either DNF or finishes outside top 10, it affects the 'Race Quality' side of the equation which considers the top 10 finishers.

FAQ's here:- https://www.zwiftpower.com/rankings.php

Therefore others may score less than they would otherwise.
Sorry STICKY, but I have to strongly agree with the original poster because of riders like CHOPPA. That deliberately join Cat C races when they are Cat A just to F*** with us because of BathSalts...
https://www.zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=160226 https://imgur.com/a/n0uSZlh... messes with the race then quits 10 KM from the end.
They did the exact same last Saturday's Triad race events.php?zid=156638 https://www.strava.com/activities/2169614173

There needs to be an option to stop them from joining lower cat races...
Yes, this is a nice discussion....but what about those who race but not registered at ZP?They also do have big influences on the race and the result.
Race organisers should have the option to make their races only available to racers that have registered with ZP. Then we have the option to join or not...
Agree with OP
