Points are now allocated for the fastest segment times (including sprints).
First place takes 25 points
2nd to 10th place receive 20pts down to 2pts
Capped to 25 points (so only need to win a single segment)

Racing points are now allocated regardless of finishers. If 5 or more the skill average is used. Less than 5 finishers will use a fixed value of 10 points for the winner.
That's going to shake things up during races :D
Points are per CAT? Or is only fun for As?
Segment points are overall as they include sprints. You can have a C rider win the sprint for 25 points and an A rider win the climb for 25 points.

Position based points are per category.
Using Watopia Figure 8 A’s an example which has 2 climbs and 2 sprints; will all 4 segments attract points? If so then surely quite a few of the top riders will cap out at 25 or get close.
**as**. Can’t edit from phone 😟
The only segment I am interested in winning is the one that ends at the finish line , and I do not care how many points I get for It . ;)
James,

Over the last few weeks now the winter training has kicked in, the real focus has suddenly turned to points as motivation. What you have done here is brilliant, racers identify with points (although skills is an odd name) and it's become the go to for friend and race team rivalry.

However, it's hard to understand and predict how many points you are going to get. Do you have a simple chart showing how this is calculated ? I only became aware recently that inter segments and sprints in an event also counted to result.

Also, entering a 1h 30m gruelling mountain race with less people gets you less points that a critl style popular short race. This doesn't seem right given the higher TSS value than some of the 20mins races. Doesn't the length and difficulty not also affect the points ?

Cheers
James - can you validate the following :D

Skill Points in made up of three components: POWER + SEGMENT + RACING

Power:
Every race or event your power is recorded for six power efforts:
  • 1min power (watts)
    5min power (watts)
    20min power (watts)
    1min W/KG
    5min W/KG
    20min W/KG
  • Each day ZP calculates the average times and power for all riders over the last 90 days
  • Using standard deviation your best three effort power levels are given a score from 0 to 300 (150 being the mean/average)
  • Your top six best effort power points make up the total Power points.

Segment:
  • Every race or event your best segment (zwiftinsider verified?) times are recorded:
  • E.g. (not conclusive list)
    London loop Forward
    Innsbruck KOM Forward
    Innsbruck KOM Reverse
    London Box Hill
    Watopia KOM Reverse
    Watopia KOM Forward
    Alpe du Zwift
    Volcano Climb
    Watopia Epic KOM Forward
    Watopia Epic KOM Reverse
  • Using standard deviation your best three per segment times are given a score from 0 to 600 (300 being the mean/average)
  • Your five best segment points make up the total Segment Points.

Racing:

Racing points are made up of two components:

Finishing place:
  • For races with more than 5 finishers, the available points is the average skill of the top 5 finishers divided by 100. If 5 riders have a score of 6000 the winner will receive 60 points
  • For races with less than 5 finishers a fixed value of 10 points for the winner per Category (remaining finishers?)
  • Points distribution is calculated by the winners points divided by number of finishers. A 60 point race with 10 finishers will see 54 points going to 2nd, 48 points going to 3rd and so on.
  • Every race earns a minimum of 1 point for all riders.
Segment place:
  • Points are allocated for the fastest segment times (including sprints)
  • First place takes 25 points
  • 2nd to 10th place receive 20pts down to 2pts
  • Points are capped to 25 points (so only need to win a single segment)
A single race points is a total of finish place points plus segment points

Your total racing points consists of the last 30 days worth of points with a cap of 1,000 points

Skills Total = Power* + Segment* + 30 days of Racing points
*note: Power and segment are best of last 90 days
